Mercury Financial and Spirit Airlines Introduce NEW Points Plus Mastercard® Product

Beginning this summer, Free Spirit members will soar with expanded travel rewards and benefits

WILMINGTON, Del., Sept. 27, 2021––Today, Mercury® Financial LLC (Mercury Financial), a financial inclusion technology company serving nearly 1 million near-prime customers, and Spirit Airlines (NYSE: SAVE) announced the launch of the Free Spirit® Points Plus Mastercard®, alongside the Free Spirit Points Mastercard® which entered the market in February. Free Spirit Points Plus cardmembers will have the opportunity to earn points and status with the airline while enjoying benefits at the airport and onboard every flight.

Mercury and Spirit Airlines began their co-branded partnership in February 2021 by launching the Free Spirit Points Mastercard®. The new Free Spirit Points Plus card builds on that foundation with great perks and features aimed at making every flight even more enjoyable and making it faster and easier to
earn rewards. Those including:

Supercharging your rewards
Under the Points Plus product, Free Spirit members will enjoy the following points-based benefits:

  • 3x Free Spirit points on all eligible Spirit purchases, including flights.
  • 2x Free Spirit points on dining and grocery purchases.
  • 1x Free Spirit points on all other purchases.

Extra benefits on every flight
Points Plus credit card holders traveling Spirit Airlines will be eligible for:

  • 25% rebate on inflight food and beverage purchases.
  • Shortcut Boarding/Zone 2 early boarding.
  • Point pooling for individuals and up to eight additional Free Spirit members – ideal for families
  • traveling together.

New cardmembers will earn 20,000 Free Spirit bonus points and a $100 Companion Flight Voucher after they meet purchase and payment requirements. There is a $79 annual fee which is waived the first year.


Credit card holders will also receive an annual $100 Companion Flight Voucher each year they spend $5,000 before their anniversary date. The card can help members achieve Free Spirit Silver and Gold Status as credit card holders will earn one status qualifying point (SQP) for every $10 spent in purchases. Points do not expire and there’s no cap to how many points credit card holders may earn.
